What have I been up to?

It’s been a little while since last writting, but with the Winter weather setting in, and a special job I am doing at work taking up all my time I haven’t done anything exciting.
More Beer!
After making my first grain beer, I learned a few new tricks from the mistakes I made and tried a second batch. My mate Dean (who is into this in a bigger way than me) suggested I make a filter out of a braided hydraulic hose. Fotunately there was an old one in the scrap bin at work, so some modifications of cutting off the fittings and pulling the pipe out from the centre were easily done. Next I used some plasitc tube from Bunnings to plumb it up so it sits nicely in the bottom of my mash tun (esky).
Going to work the other morning, I was just happy that it wasn’t wet or cold when I passed a poor trail bike rider going through his backpack on the roadside. He must have broken down, and my thoughts turned to the toolbox under my seat and how I could assist an unfortunate fellow bike rider, but my greedy side said “He’s only a trail bike rider, stuff him!” and I kept riding, zooming to find a clear spot in the traffic where the enemy, those car drivers wouldn’t trouble me.
Before I reached my comfort zone in a clear traffic space, the unfortunate trail bike rider was suddenly beside me with some groovy red and blue lights flashing on his bike just under a “police” sign. Damn! “Are you aware you are doing 96 kms/hr in a 70 zone? Did you know that is 26 kms over the speed limit, and automatic loss of license occurs for more than 25? What is your excuse for speeding?” Thinking on my feet, I told him that I thought he was broken down, and I was just looking for a place to do a U turn so I could go back and assist a fellow bike rider. He rolled his eyes and said, ‘Ok, I will take off 2 kms/hr and your busted for 24 over the limit and can keep your license” How generous! It was still a $234 fine! I wanted to tell him to go and book some of the enemy, the car drivers who are on their mobile phones or driving with their windscreens obscured by a GPS which is the same size as a motorcycle approaching from the right which they can’t see! Humph….

My yacht finally has all the steel work done and has been sandblasted and primed ready for fairing and final painting. It should soon be back on the water.
