Beer Facts
A 2009 study found that the average Australian walks about 900 miles a year.
Another study found that the average Australian drinks 22 gallons of beer a year.
That means the average Australian gets about 41 miles per gallon.
Bloody good value that!
Working in Brisbane
by steamtug on Jul.29, 2014, under General
Things in Brisbane had been a little quiet until an old mate from Geelong took a job in the office next to mine. So now I have taken him out on the town, and life here has become more interesting. (continue reading…)
Ye Olde burning of the sacred bush…
by steamtug on May.13, 2013, under General
It’s bonfire time again! We spent ages constructing it, lots of time to make the beer, 6 months working on the music playlist, and it was all over in one insane night of fire, beer and song! But don’t be the first to fall asleep, or bad things may happen to you…. read on and see! (continue reading…)
A New Car!
by steamtug on Mar.28, 2013, under General
The time has come, when living by motorcycle only is no longer funny. So in preparation for the coming Winter, I have brought a new car. It’s nothing really special, a Mazda 3 but has the sports pack with the leather seats, leather sports steering wheel, and the most essential, the Bose 10 speaker premium sound system. It even has a “fully sick sub woofa” which is mounted into the spare tyre in the boot! (continue reading…)
Four boat trips in 1 week!
by steamtug on Mar.22, 2013, under General
As the garden at home shrivels up before my eyes, with only 2 lots of rain, 10mm each, and the endless Summer culminating in 2 weeks of temperatures above 30 degrees (one morning it was still 27 when I went to work!) I find a “cool” way to stay cool. With 4 boat trips in 1 week! (continue reading…)
Firsty Febree is over!
by steamtug on Mar.16, 2013, under General
I had been giving it a good lashing over the warm summer months, but when I came home from the “Great Australian Beer Festival” held here for the first time in Geelong talking double speed that making no sense, I got a bit of a talking to from me Ma. Who convinced me to take a month off drinking and participate in the much touted “Free February” and give up alcohol for a month. (continue reading…)
New Year’s chin wag…
by steamtug on Jan.27, 2013, under General
As the hops plant blossoms with a bumper crop of cones, and Queensland is washed away, we continue to beg the skies for rain here in Victoria. I spent a quiet New Year’s eve in Beechworth brewery, helped Tom get his steam truck on the road, tried to catch up with my beer production, and sent a team of underwater hockey juniors down to Tasmania to compete in the Australian National championships where they got smashed by everyone. Read on… (continue reading…)
Underwater Hockey break up party
by steamtug on Dec.21, 2012, under General
Is it just me? Or has this year just flown past? I know I have been busy with the project I am working on at work, but it only seems such a short time ago that the 2012 underwater hockey season started, and now it’s over all too soon. So to celebrate such a great year of hockey, we all went to Bancoora Beach near Geelong for a swim in the surf, a few beers, and eat our pizza while holding the annual general meeting. (continue reading…)
We are back with a new address!
by steamtug on Nov.27, 2012, under General
Welcome back to those who had not found the new address. The old free hosting server had become a haven for tricksters, scammers dreamers, schemers and screamers, so it got pulled. Unfortunately for you lot, we had a back up copy of this blog… so as they say in the classics ‘The monster lives!” This week, Goofa gets hitched… again! (This time for sure, eh Jeff?) and I get a special hello from a Pretty Girl! Read on for more… if you dare!

Tom’s building a steam truck!
by steamtug on Oct.17, 2012, under General
His truck has been under construction for a few years now, but ’tis getting to the pointy end of the project, and I helped him get the boiler certified so now it’s up and running. As a pay back, Tom helped me get the engine out of poor Adaqua, still stranded in Williamstown which is 5 hours by sea from her home port! Hopefully coming home soon, minus the blown up engine… read on!!! (continue reading…)
